VALID ENTRY DATES: From 5 November 2023 to 4 November 2024.
CATEGORIES:
1) Photography – Sports Action (1 PHOTO)
2) Photography – Portfolio (5 PHOTOS)
3) Written Press – Best Colour Piece
4) Written Press, Best Column
5) Audio
6) Video – Documentary of more than 10 minutes
7) Video – Athlete Profile longer than 10 minutes
8) Short Video of up to 10 minutes.
9) OPTIONAL: For those born since 1995 there’s an optional Young Reporters category that guarantees a scholarship at a top international event to the three winners.
LANGUAGES. Journalists can participate directly with their work in any language.
AIPS membership is not required to participate. Open to all professionals!
PRIZES. Total prize money of 104,000 US Dollars to be distributed as follows: 8,000 USD for 1st places of each senior category. 3,000 USD for 2nd places of each senior category. 2,000 USD for 3rd places of each senior category. Those selected for the podium will receive an invitation to travel to the final ceremony in April 2025.

November-December: Internal validation of submissions
January: Longlist announcement (first voting stage), Certificates of participation distribution
February: Shortlist announcement (second voting stage)
March: Top 10 candidates announcement (third voting stage)
April: Finalists announcement (fourth voting stage), final ceremony (fifth voting stage)
May: Final rankings + Continental rankings, Certificates of excellence distribution
SPECIAL COMMENDATIONS. Since 2022 the AIPS Sport Media Awards also highlight more than 30 additional works, aside from the winners, that deserved recognition for their contribution. Special commendations for works aligned with AIPS cornerstone values and important breakthroughs in the sport media industry will be delivered across the 9 categories.
A NOTE TO PHOTOGRAPHERS: The Sport Action category has a new description in order to provide more depth and possibilities. The new description says “An image that depicts a moment of journalistic relevance, athletic skill, sports impact or high-quality detail from a particular sporting event”.
SUBMIT NOW. We recommend submitting as soon as possible. No further changes will be possible once deadline of November 4 has passed.
